Boutique New Moon combines traditional Japanese elegance with bohemian freedom

In my collection, tradition and innovation meet.

The delicate Mizuhiki jewelry reflects the centuries-old Japanese tradition that embodies values such as respect, harmony, and connection. At the same time, the boho style, with its free, unconventional aesthetic, inspires me to create modern and creative designs.

This creates jewelry that is not only beautiful, but also has a deeper meaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q&A

What is Mizuhiki?

Mizuhiki - Traditional Japanese Art

The origins of Mizuhiki can be traced back to the Heian period (794-1185). Originally, hemp cords were used, which were later replaced by paper cords. Mizuhiki is a traditional Japanese art form in which elaborate knots are made from special, often colorful, paper cords. These cords were traditionally used in gift wrapping and ceremonies to symbolize appreciation, respect, continuity and tradition.

Nowadays, Mizuhiki is not only used in traditional contexts, but has also established itself as a modern art form. Mizuhiki is particularly popular among young people who combine the traditional style with modern elements. Mizuhiki is increasingly used for jewelry such as earrings, necklaces and brooches, which impress with their elegance and lightness. Mizuhiki is also becoming increasingly popular as a decorative element in home accessories or for DIY projects.

This evolution shows how this centuries-old art form has adapted to modern aesthetics while still maintaining its connection to its traditional roots. Mizuhiki is not only a symbol of Japanese craftsmanship and culture, but also an expression of contemporary creativity and individuality : Discover now →

How do I best care for the jewelry?

Mizuhiki jewellery

  1. Keep dry: Protect Mizuhiki jewellery from moisture and remove it before showering or swimming.
  2. A special water-based varnish makes the jewellery more resistant to water, but it is not waterproof.
  3. Gentle cleaning: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
  4. Avoid chemicals: Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray and cleaning products.
  5. Storage: Store jewellery separately in a soft pouch or padded jewellery box.
  6. Sun protection: Protect from prolonged sun exposure to prevent colour fading.

stainless steel jewellery

  1. Cleaning: Wipe with a soft cloth and warm water. If it is heavily soiled, a mild detergent can be used.
  2. To avoid scratches: Store the jewellery separately from other metal pieces.
  3. Avoid contact: Reduce contact with chemicals such as perfume, hairspray or cleaning products.
  4. Maintain shine: For additional shine, special stainless steel polishing cloths can be used.

brass jewellery

  1. Avoid oxidation: Store the jewellery in a dry and dark place, ideally in a jewellery bag or box.
  2. Cleaning: If necessary, clean with a mixture of lemon juice and water to remove the patina. Then rinse well and dry.
  3. Protection: Avoid moisture, perfume, cosmetics and sweat as these can accelerate oxidation.
  4. Accept patina: Some people love the patina of brass as part of its character. If you want to maintain the shiny surface, you should clean it regularly.

Jewellery and water – what should you keep in mind?

stainless steel
Stainless steel is relatively water-resistant and generally does not rust, but...

  • When swimming: Chlorine in the pool or salt water can affect the shine of stainless steel. It is better to remove the jewellery before swimming.
  • In everyday life: Stainless steel is robust enough for contact with water, e.g. when washing hands or in light rain. Dry the jewellery afterwards with a soft cloth to avoid water stains.
Brass
Brass is more sensitive to water because it tends to oxidize.
  • When swimming: Contact with chlorine or salt water should be avoided at all costs, as this accelerates the formation of patina and can discolour the jewellery more quickly.
  • In everyday life: Avoid wearing brass jewellery in the shower or when washing your hands. If the jewellery does get wet, dry it thoroughly immediately.

Ribbons and cords (e.g. leather, fabric, nylon)

  • Swimming and showering: Leather and fabric straps can lose their shape or become brittle when exposed to water. Nylon straps are more durable, but should not be left wet for long periods of time.
  • Care: If a band gets wet, pat it dry and let it air dry completely, but not in direct sunlight to avoid discoloration.

To preserve the longevity and shine of your jewellery, we recommend removing it before swimming, showering or exercising. Water - especially salt water and chlorinated water - can have long-term effects on the materials. If the jewellery does get wet, dry it thoroughly immediately.

Is your jewelry allergy-friendly?

Stainless steel and brass are generally well-tolerated. However, if you are sensitive to certain metals or have questions about a specific piece of jewelry, please don't hesitate to send us a message .
